Summer Reading
I’ve plowed through a lot of summer reading. I read some Anne Rivers Siddons and then moved to Attica Locke and Alex Bledsoe and it’s not even the end of June yet!
But reading for me is the most relaxing thing. They call readers like me “whale readers,” because we devour so many books.
When I was going to acupuncture school, I needed a part time job so I applied at B. Dalton in the local mall. I was familiar with the store because I purchased books there regularly. It was one of the expanded Dalton stores and had a lot more inventory than the upstairs Walden Books. This was before Barnes and Noble became a thing but even then, the B. Dalton store felt more homey to me than the local B&N.
I got the job as holiday staff and was later hired on as regular staff, part time. I found out I had the job because all the staff recognized me as someone who came in regularly so they knew I knew books.
There are worse things than being known by your local bookstore. Or your local library (where I was also known but then I had worked there, too!).
If you’re looking for your summer reads, check out this link. It has a lot of books that are easy to curl up and enjoy. As it’s a broad range sale, there should be something for everyone.
