This week I’m giving away a free short story to everyone. It’s both a thank you and a way to memorialize my 19 year old cat who had to be helped across the bridge yesterday due to dementia.
“Rescued from the Rain” is a short story that I originally wrote for Janiss Garza’s anthology, Rescued: The Stories of 12 Cats Through Their Eyes. The call was for stories of the cats we have rescued but told as the cats might have told them. Gemini’s was one of those chosen.
After that particular rainy night when she was rescued, she had nineteen years with us, though she made it clear life would have been better if she were an only cat. I guess even cats don’t always get what they want. She was however, quite the little princess around the house. She would often get a time out in our bedroom to snooze and have “a spa day away from the boys” with her own food and litterbox and toys.
You can find “Rescued from the Rain” here.
Thank you, Bonnie. Thinking of you. Take care.
